Thanks for stopping by! I’m Brittany Kathryn Allen, your new favorite New York-based writer-performer. I tend to live and play in the outer-boroughs, and get my kicks from acting, writing, improvising, singing and playing guitar. Other important tidbits: I’m a longtime fan of blueberries and nineties alt-rock. I have a deep, irrational dream of making a living as a twenties-style jazz singer.
Upon graduating from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in the fall of 2011, I’ve been creating comedic/theatrical glory with the likes of 2 Girls 1 Asian and my affiliate devised theater company, Rescue Agreement. I’ve also performed around the city with Carroll Simmons (everyone’s favorite pop-up performance collective!), PowerOut Theatre and Jenny Koons’ Odyssey Project. I study sketch and advanced improv through the Upright Citizens Brigade, and have fiction and non-fiction published or forth-coming in The Tishman Review, Work: A Literary Magazine, The Nervous Breakdown, and The Toast — among other places. I’m also a frequent contributor to the blogs at BUST Magazine, Hello Giggles and Brokelyn. And last link in the breath: my own personal breeding ground for fiction and non-fiction is The Adelpheans, a culture blog I started with three listless lady friends.
